Erwin Kroell is a strong and diverse petroleum industry executive with a petroleum engineering background and with proven leadership in a broad range of international experiences in the oil & gas industry for more than 25 years. Experienced in managing and leading multi-discipline, multi-national teams in a number of senior positions in Europe, CIS, North Africa and the Middle East.

Erwin Kroell started his career with OMV AG in 1990, where he got involved in various disciplines of our industry including drilling, production and reservoir engineering, production operations, business development, commercial negotiations, exploration, field development and asset management.

In 2003 he joined Wintershall/BASF to work as a Deputy General Director for Drilling & Reservoir Development seconded to ZAO Achimgaz a 50/50 JV between Wintershall and Gazprom for the appraisal and development of the Achimovskoye 1A high pressure gas/condensate reservoir in Northwestern Siberia, followed by an assignment as General Manager for Wintershall in Qatar.

Erwin Kroell returned to OMV Upstream after interesting and successful eight years with Wintershall taking over the entire business responsibility for the Middle East & Caspian Region as a Senior Vice President where he is also Managing Director for all legal entities of the regional portfolio. Effective 1st January 2016 he took on board all African assets of OMV Upstream as well.

Erwin Kroell studied Petroleum Engineering at the Mining University Leoben (MUL) in Leoben/Austria with a MSc degree. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
